Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 3, 2026
Overview
Skopia is a macOS menu bar application that reminds you to blink while using your computer. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.
The short version: Skopia runs entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data from within the application. The only data we handle is your email address when you purchase the app, which is processed by our payment provider.
Who We Are
Skopia is operated by Maryna Yankevych, a self-employed individual registered in Cyprus.

For the purposes of GDPR, Maryna Yankevych acts as the data controller.
What Data Skopia (the App) Collects
None.
The Skopia macOS application does not collect, log, transmit, or store any personal information. Specifically:
- We do not track how you use the app.
- We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, or telemetry.
- We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, location, or any other system data.
- We do not connect to the internet for any purpose other than checking for software updates.
- All settings you configure in the app are stored locally on your Mac using standard macOS preferences storage.
Skopia is designed to be privacy-first by default.
What Data the Website Collects
When you visit getskopia.com, we may process the following:
Purchase information
When you buy Skopia, your purchase is processed through one of the following:
- Mac App Store — purchases made through the App Store are processed by Apple. Apple collects your Apple ID, payment information, and billing country. We do not receive your payment details. You can review Apple’s privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Direct purchase via Polar — purchases made at getskopia.com are processed by Polar (polar.sh), who acts as the Merchant of Record. Polar collects your email address, billing country (for tax purposes), and payment information. Card details are handled securely by Polar and never touch our systems. You can review their privacy policy at polar.sh/legal/privacy.
From Polar direct purchases, we receive only your email address and country — the minimum needed to deliver your license and provide support.
Support emails
If you email us at [email protected], we retain your email and message for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for reference. We do not use support emails for marketing.
Analytics
We use Simple Analytics (simpleanalytics.com) for lightweight, privacy-respecting website analytics. Simple Analytics is cookieless, collects no personal data, does not track you across sites, and is fully GDPR-compliant. It records only aggregate metrics such as page views and referrer sources. No IP addresses or fingerprints are stored. You can review their privacy policy at simpleanalytics.com/privacy.
How We Use Your Data
We use the limited data we receive to:
- Deliver your download link and purchase confirmation
- Provide customer support when you contact us
- Send occasional product announcements (only if you explicitly opt in)
- Comply with legal obligations (such as tax records)
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for profiling.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data (right to erasure)
- Object to our processing of your data
- Port your data to another service
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address associated with your purchase. We will respond within 30 days.
If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Cyprus, this is the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (dataprotection.gov.cy).
Data Retention
- Purchase records (email, transaction): retained for 7 years as required by tax law.
- Support correspondence: retained for up to 2 years after last contact.
- Local app data (your Skopia settings): stored only on your Mac. When you delete Skopia, this data is deleted with it.
Third-Party Services
Skopia relies on the following third parties:
- Simple Analytics (simpleanalytics.com) — privacy-first website analytics, cookieless, no personal data collected
- Polar (polar.sh) — payment processing and Merchant of Record for direct purchases
- Apple (apple.com/legal/privacy) — macOS App Store distribution and code signing
- Cloudflare / Vercel (for getskopia.com hosting) — may process your IP address for standard web serving
These providers have their own privacy policies which govern their processing of data.
Children
Skopia is rated 4+ on the Mac App Store and is suitable for all ages. The app does not collect any personal data from any user, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data (for example via a support email), please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
International Transfers
Some of our third-party providers are based outside the European Union. Where your data is transferred outside the EU, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, on the website or by email if you have a support history with us).
