Terms of Service
Last updated: May 3, 2026
Overview
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Skopia, a macOS menu bar application that reminds you to blink ("the App"), and the website getskopia.com ("the Website"). By purchasing or using Skopia, you agree to these Terms.
The short version: Skopia is a lifetime license app. You pay once and own it forever. We respect your privacy. If something goes wrong in the first 30 days, we will refund you.
Who We Are
Skopia is operated by Maryna Yankevych, a self-employed individual registered in Cyprus.

License
When you purchase Skopia, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on macOS devices owned or controlled by you for personal or commercial use. Skopia does not use license keys or activation — your purchase grants you the right to use the App, and we rely on the honor system.
You may:
- Install and use Skopia on your own Macs
- Use Skopia in your work or business
You may not:
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense Skopia
- Share your download link or installer publicly
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the App except as permitted by law
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Use Skopia in ways that violate applicable laws
Purchase and Pricing
Skopia is available as a lifetime license — a single one-time payment with no recurring fees. It is sold through:
- Mac App Store — apps.apple.com. Apple acts as the Merchant of Record and handles payment processing and tax compliance.
- Direct purchase via Polar at getskopia.com. Polar acts as the Merchant of Record for direct sales and handles payment processing and tax compliance.
Prices are displayed at the point of purchase in USD. All prices include applicable taxes where required by law.
Refund Policy
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for direct purchases through Polar. If Skopia does not work for you for any reason within 30 days of purchase, email [email protected] — no form, no questions required — and we will issue a full refund.
For Mac App Store purchases, refunds are handled by Apple according to their refund policy at support.apple.com.
Future Updates
Version 2.0 Upgrade
Customers who purchase Skopia Version 1.x will receive Version 2.0 (which introduces on-device blink detection using the camera) as a free upgrade. This commitment applies to purchases made through both direct download and the Mac App Store.
Other Updates
Your lifetime license includes all v1.x updates and the v2.0 upgrade at no extra cost. We may release updates, bug fixes, and new features from time to time and intend to support Skopia as an actively maintained product.
Warranty and Liability
Skopia is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we design Skopia carefully and test it thoroughly, we cannot guarantee it will be free from bugs, errors, or interruptions.
Skopia is a reminder tool, not a medical device. It is designed to help encourage healthy blinking habits while using a computer. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice. If you experience persistent eye strain, dry eyes, or vision problems, consult a qualified eye care professional.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability for any claim related to Skopia shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by applicable law (including liability for death, personal injury due to negligence, or fraud)
User Conduct
When using Skopia or getskopia.com, you agree not to:
- Use the App or Website in a way that could harm other users or third parties
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with the normal operation of the App or Website
- Use the App or Website to violate applicable laws
Privacy
Your privacy matters. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data we collect (very little) and how we handle it.
Intellectual Property
The Skopia name, logo, design, and source code are the property of Maryna Yankevych. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
Termination
You may stop using Skopia at any time by uninstalling the App.
We may terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms, including by violating the license restrictions or engaging in fraud. If we terminate for such a reason, no refund will be given.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Cyprus. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Cyprus, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Skopia after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you disagree with material changes, your remedy is to stop using Skopia.
